Doyles Room Super Turbo
Doyles Room is a great online poker room that recently joined the Cake Poker network and the network as a whole recently added super turbo sit and go’s to their repertoire. These super turbo sng’s are quite different than Full Tilt’s super turbo’s but you can use basically the same strategy to be successful.
Doyles Room Super Turbo SNG Structure
- 6-man tables
- 65% of prize pool to 1st place, 35% of prize pool to 2nd place
- 1500 chips and 10/20 blinds to start
- 2 minute blind levels
- Tournaments last approximately 20 – 25 minutes
As you can see this structure is completely different than the Full Tilt Poker structure. First of all the tournament only has 6 players instead of 9, which means only two places pay. This means when it gets down to four handed you will have to stay aggressive because 50% of the players remaining still need to bust before the bubble, rather than the 25% that would need to bust if you were playing at Full Tilt Poker.

Another huge difference is that you start with 75 times as many chips as the big blind compared to beginning with only 10 times the big blind at Full Tilt. This means that the first 10 minutes or so of the super turbo SNG play like a normal sit and go tournament, where the decisions are much more difficult and the pots are often quite small. I would suggest playing very tight during these stages in order to maintain your chips for the push or fold portion of the tournament that comes in level 6. In level 6 the blinds are 100/200 and this means most players will be in push or fold mode. This is when the tournament becomes very similar to the Full Tilt Poker super turbo sng’s. The difference here is that the blinds actually increase faster than at Full Tilt so you will need to be making moves more often and be even more aggressive when you have the chance.
Strategy Variations from Full Tilt Super Turbo Strategy
- Play tight and only get involved with monster hands during the early stages (first 4 levels) of the tournament.
- Play for first place. Of course if there are three players left and you have the average stack size and one player has 20 chips you should fold into the money, but in general you should play more aggressive because only 2 players get paid instead of 3.
- Play faster in the late stages of the tournament. The blinds go up faster than at Full Tilt so you should be pushing with slightly less than you would at the same blind level at Full Tilt Poker.
Can the Doyles Room Super Turbo SNG’s be Profitable?
Yes! The Doyles Room super turbo sit and go’s can definitely be as profitable, if not more profitable than the Full Tilt Poker super turbo’s. Due to the fact the blinds are very small during the first few stages you can play tight and try to pick off the fish who think they need to double up early. Even if you don’t get a hand during the early levels you will still have enough chips to utilize your strong push/fold late tournament strategy that you use at Full Tilt Poker to be a big winner at these tournaments.
